Craftsmanship is at the core of what we do. Our jewels are not traditional, and nor is our approach to their creation. The Ruth Tomlinson aesthetic is organic, natural, textured, and yet highly detailed and refined, and our craftsmanship reflects this through every stage of the jewellery’s journey, from inception to finished jewel.
Ruth is a designer/maker, she designs during the making process rather than materialising a sketch or drawing. The jewels come to life at the jewellery bench, where she pushes boundaries and experiments with new techniques. It is during this process that the design is refined and all the intricacies considered.
While Ruth makes the first of each design, we have a team of skilled goldsmiths, based in the workshop within our Atelier, who make further editions of our collection pieces, who customise designs to our customers desires, and who assist Ruth with our bespoke commissions. Much of our stone setting is done inhouse too. It’s a collaborative effort to make a Ruth Tomlinson jewel, with several hands playing a role in the journey to finished product, each adding their own expertise along the way.
Our purpose built workshop is based on the 1st floor of our Atelier, and we welcome our customers to have a peep in at where their jewels are created, if they so wish. Do let our team know during your visit.
We believe that every jewel should be unique, just like the individuals who wear and enjoy them. That's why we treat our materials with respect, celebrating their particular character and highlighting their special qualities, whether these are unusual internal inclusions, or the imperfect forms of hand cut antique stones.
We offer a unique experience and service to our customers and we cherish the relationships we form through the jewels we share a passion for. We stand by our alternative techniques and processes in an industry dominated by mainstream practice and product, and we are continually educating ourselves about different ways we can make improvements to our sustainability as a small business in the jewellery industry.

Our goldsmiths can craft rings in UK, US and European ring sizes, please leave us a note during checkout if you wish to order in an international ring size or do not see your size listed online. Half and quarter sizes can also be accommodated. Ready-to-Ship styles can be resized in approximately 10 working days from order date, all other styles will be made to order in your chosen size.
Try to provide us with the correct ring size when you place your order. The most accurate way to have your finger size measured is with a professional jeweller with the correct tools. Alternative methods such as print-at-home guides and plastic ring gauges can be convenient but they may not provide a precise measurement. Please note that conversions between UK/US/ EU ring sizes are accurate to within approximately 1/4 of a finger size.
All ring purchases are inclusive of a complimentary resize (plus shipping) within three months of delivery, with the exception of eternity and wrap style bands which cannot be resized. If your ring needs further adjustments to the size, or falls outside of this timeline, this will be a chargeable service and will be quoted for based on the complexity of the resize, plus a delivery fee. Shipping, handling and custom fees for resizes are the sole responsibility of the customer.
If you have any questions about sizing, please contact us on info@ruthtomlinson.com
Your finger size can change during the day and will also fluctuate depending on how hot/cold they are – your fingers tend to be at their largest at the end of the day. We recommend measuring your hands when they are at an average temperature for you to give the most accurate size.
A wider band will feel tighter than a narrower band. When purchasing a particularly wide band, we recommend choosing a full size larger than your normal ring size.
When measuring a size, we would look for resistance at the knuckle particularly when removing, and some movement on the finger to allow for when your hands are warmer and your fingers at their largest. Each person’s finger will be shaped differently, our team/a jeweller can advise more specifically for each individual in person.
Our chain and beaded bracelets measure approximately 17.5 cm in length as standard. Our signature cuffs can be ordered in the following sizes:
Small 56mm (inside diameter) Medium 61mm (inside diameter)Large 66mm (inside diameter)
A custom length/ size can be ordered on request, please enquire before placing an order as this may affect the price.
