Aquamarine’s name comes from the Latin for seawater and it was said to calm waves and keep sailors safe at sea. It’s natural pale pastel greenish-blue colour is sometimes treated with heat to become brighter blue, but we’re fans of its original, subtle, watery tones. Aquamarine is part of the beryl family of minerals that in different colours are called by different names - green is emerald and pink is morganite.
