Preparing for Christmas Open Studios

Follow

It’s that time of year again when I am busy making up stock and sorting out samples in the count down to the Christmas Open Studios at Cockpits. With my long list to hand I am busy generally doing the thing I love most, working with beautiful gems and jewels I have been keeping hold of.

Here is my messy workbench with my treasured, amazingly crafted, stone carving given to me as a gift for my RCA graduation from my uncle Alan Ward.  You can contact him for commissions on sculptureaward@gmail.com

Porcelain flowers freshly fired in the kiln ready to make into earrings.

These are before and after shots of how I make the gold granules that are on my rings - recycling off cuts and melting on charcoal - very satisfying!

I thought this looked quite festive, like a snowflake (but made of acid).  It was created by my broken slow cooker that I use to pickle the metal.
