Visual inspiration - William Kilburn’s designs
Follow
William Kilburn was an 18th century Irish-born designer, illustrator and calico printer who created beautiful print designs inspired by plant life. During Ruth’s time at the Royal College of Art she stumbled across his works housed in The Victoria and Albert Museum, and so began an endless source of inspiration in Kilburn’s unique combination of flora and corals from the earth and sea.
Originals of his water colour designs make up the ‘Kilburn Album’ also housed at the V&A.
