Manuel Vilhena - Miss Amelia & 1001 Rings

Gallery S O on Brick Lane is a true hidden gem and is the forefront for conceptual jewellery in the UK. It is the most wonderful space and definitely worth a visit for one of their interesting exhibitions.  I went to the opening of Manuel’s show recently and it was truly poetic.

"Miss Amelia comes from a poem I wrote sometime ago.  The poem turned into a story, which served as a ground to produce the brooches.  Likewise the brooches fed forward into the story making it change, and so on and vice-versa, until in the end the story and the objects created each other." - Manuel Vilhena, 2012
